On-board diagnostics (OBD) refers to the electronic system that provides vehicle self-diagnosis and reporting capabilities for repair technicians. An OBD grants access to subsystem information for the purpose of performance-monitoring and analysing repair needs.
Several members of T-engineering have been developing OBD II systems since 1994, where the SAAB team developed the first proprietary ECU aimed at the US market. We also have experience from developing OBD:s for the European market (Euro VI) as well as the Chinese market (China VI). Regarding on-board diagnostics, interpretation of the legal requirements, development of the diagnostic functionality, calibration, verification and so on, it’s safe to say we’ve got all that covered too. The T-engineering OBD functionality covers most high feature sensors, actuators and systems for today’s combustion engines and contains several advanced logics for detecting misfire, emission level degradation and air/fuel/EGR imbalances.
All the on-board diagnostic systems developed by T-engineering have been mass production-certified for several passenger vehicle applications. Our vast experience from working with powertrain components and characteristics leaves your team, and your system, in good hands.
With T-engineering’s heritage being a spin-off from Saab Automobile, our experience in off-board diagnostics is substantial. We have cutting-edge skills with handling diagnostic protocols and services between the production/after-sales tool and the ECU.
We can guarantee high quality management regarding all aspects of ISO 14229- 1 and ISO15031-6 services and protocols, as well as design and definition of the configuration (e.g. RID, DID, PID etc.) for automotive ECUs. We run off-board diagnostics on both CAN and Ethernet (DoIP).
